Hi - I am Elaine Healy and  I designed the original SLINGGUARD Car Seat Protector in 2009 when every cover I purchased broke.  Because it was for my own use and not designed at that stage for sale, I used the best quality materials available to ensure its durability!

Living in Ocean Grove, Victoria, I needed a cover that was strong enough to take the weight of my two lively border collies, Missy and Beau (and often 2 other dog friends) when travelling to the beach every morning, as well as long trips to Melbourne and elsewhere in Victoria.  

I designed it to be extremely versatile and reversible - one side 100% waterproof for those wet, muddy and sandy mornings, and the other luxurious and soft for their comfort on long trips.  I added another thick layer in the middle so that it would not twist and turn as they moved around, and also to provide more comfort.  

Because I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, I needed it to be easy to put in and out of the car, as well as being able to wipe the large amount of hair off it daily by hand.  It also needed to be able to go in the washing machine.  

I decided it was not meant to be only for my dogs but for also for my own use as we were renovating our home, and so ensured it was a real car protector for when we brought home brick pavers etc on it.  As a result I designed it so it could also go in the rear area of our Station Wagon at the time, and now our SUV when needed.

Having grandchildren, it needed to be able to accommodate car seats as well as my dogs - and also doubled as a ground sheet.

After 8 years of continuous use, I realised that there still wasn't a product on the market of the same quality as my SLINGGUARD, and so I came out of retirement in 2018 to share it with thousands of satisfied dogs and their owners.

As time passed I recognised the need for strong reinforced harnesses for my dogs when travelling in cars (instead of using a normal walking harness with all its dangers), as well as strong car safety leads.  Of course that then led to leashes and collars... 

When Zorro (my Bordoodle) came into my life, I then designed a single seat SLINGGUARD Car Seat Protector so he could travel separately to the other dogs when needed.  

I love to design and I am sure that there will always be additions each year to my range of dog accessories.
